Matching different teaching approaches to different students' interest and motivational characteristics

My talk in the seminar will focus on two interrelated themes namely: Relevance and interest. It is suggested, that these themes are related to the concept of students' motivation. Throughout the years I published papers and book chapters suggesting that different students have different motivational characteristics. As a result it is suggested, that different students (based on their interests and motivational characteristics) will differ in their preferences for instructional modes and teaching and learning pedagogies. In addition, I shall discuss the relevance model that was published recently (Eilks & Hofstein, 2015) focusing on relevance and its related motivational aspects. This model suggests that there are three dimensions: Personal, societal, and vocational.
