Sondervortrag-Ante Ivcevic, PhD

"What enhances learning processes between policy-makers and scientists regarding coastal risks?"

Institut für Geographie und Regionalforschung, NIG, HS5A
Universitätsstraße 7/5, 1010 Wien

Vortrag

How do policy-makers interact with scientists and receive scientific

information regarding coastal risks, and how do they take into

account the needs of the general population? How are risk reduction

policies drafted and communicated to the general population?

The central research question of my interdisciplinary research is:

What enhances learning processes between policy-makers and

scientists? I am addressing the complex question of decision-making

by carrying out fieldwork in Morocco and Italy.

After his Master's thesis in physical oceanography at the University

of Zagreb, Croatia, and a master's thesis in the marine environment

at Aix-Marseille University in France, Ante Ivčevič got his PhD in

geography in Marseille in 2020. He worked as a programme officer

for PAP/RAC - the regional centre of the UN Environment Programme

- Mediterranean Action Plan in coastal management in

2021. From 2022, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit

Brussel, Belgium and his research is in the field of risk governance

and coastal risk management.
