This year, The Journalists and Writers Foundation (JWF) would like to take an active part in the celebration of International Volunteer Day (December 5th). Through our representation in Vienna, we as JWF organize a panel at the University of Vienna with the aim of drawing the attention of wider international community to voluntarism and its impact on peacebuilding.
The panel entitled “The Role of Voluntarism in Building Peace” will stress the crucial role that the volunteers play in peace building which is also a major line of work for the United Nations. The panel will also highlight the importance of civic mobilization for peacebuilding through different dimensions of voluntarism.
This will be the final event of a panel series ,,1914-Peace-2014” which is jointly organized by Friede-Institut für Dialog, Institut für Religion und Frieden of the Catholic Military Diocese of the Republic of Austria, The Journalists and Writers Foundation and Forum für Weltreligionen in Vienna. In a transdisciplinary approach, „1914-Peace-2014“ intended to shed light on the historical background of World War 1 and highlight not only the lessons and consequences of this global catastrophe but also different peace approaches for the common future of humanity.
