Drawing on various examples, the lecture will discuss the impacts and challenges of these developments on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and thus offer a new perspective on cross-Strait relations.

Jens Damm is Associate Professor at Taiwan Studies Graduate Center of

Chang Jung Christian University in Tainan, Taiwan. He is a board member of the European Association of Taiwan Studies and a Research Associate with the

ERCCT, the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan, University of Tübingen. Jens Damm’s research is mainly focused on discourses on gender and ethnicity-related issues in Taiwan, Greater China including the People’s Republic of China, and on the impact of new communication technologies.
