The individual, situational and cultural determinants of cooperative competition
Gastvortrag von Márta Fülöp
Hörsaal B, NIG
Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Wien
Vortrag
For several decades competition and cooperation have been conceptualized as dichotom concepts in the psychological literature. There is however a growing evidence that competition and cooperation are rather parners than enemies and can be found in the
interpersonal and intergroup behavior in different combinations. Cooperative competition implies a high degree of cooperation among the competitive parties. In order to be able to compete intensively while remaining in a cooperative relationship requires certain individual characteristics, certain situational factors and also different cultures promote or make possible this to a different degree. The talk is going to present the potential interaction among these levels (individual, situational, cultural) via a range of research
results.
