Vortrag

Geomancy is a system of divination widespread in the world, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. One of its forms is known as Ifa among the Yoruba, or Fa among their Fon neighbors. It is a system of oracle closely associated with the religion of Vodun and Orisha, with its rites, its myths and its priesthood. Many Fon and Yoruba were deported to the New World until the nineteenth century, which led to the establishment of the cult of Ifa in Cuba, where it is widely developed today. We'll compare the contemporary forms of Ifa divination in Porto-Novo, on the border with Benin and Nigeria, and in Havana, Cuba.
