The Holy Land and Narratives
about the Conversion of Armenia and Georgia Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irma Karaulashvili
Institut für Byzantinistik und Neogräzistik der Universität Wien

Vortrag
The presentation intends to treat the importance of notions to the Judeo-Christians and Holy Land in the narratives concerning conversions of Armenia and Georgia to Christianity. Clarification of both issues, together with the concept of formation of the local terra sancta, helps to understand which trend related to the conversion of the first king to Christianity - Syriac and Greek - is reflected in the local sources as they came down to us, and to what extent the content of those narratives could be linked to the real relationship of those countries to the Holy Land
