Archaeological, landscape and historical investigations in and on the

northern part of the Arabian Peninsula constitute de facto the ultimate scientific research in one of the last un- or underexplored regions of the Near East. Because of their novelty and their pioneering character these studies and enquiries have seldom, if ever, been discussed within the frame of a specific scientific meeting. The International Congress at the University of Vienna seeks to provide this much desired venue for scientific exchange of results, ideas and research perspectives on the North Arabian region from the time of the very earliest traces of human occupation in the area.
