The situation, status,and role of religious minorities are issues of interest in various conferences and studies worldwide since many years. The theme of religious minorities in both Europe and the Arab Word is gaining importance in recent dialog projects between both regions.In light of the recent political developments in the Arab World, religious minorities in various countries are facing challenges regarding their roles and contributions to their respective wider sociopolitical environment. In public debate religious minorities are often seen as a challenge to put it in positive terms, but at the same time often also as “trouble makers”.
Accordingly, the conference aims at elaborating the active participation and often enriching contribution of religious minorities in their societies. At the same time, the conference seeks to help explore positive perspectives that would help to recognize religious minorities as driving forces for cultural, social, economical and religious developments. Based on cross cultural approach this conference also offers the opportunity to reflect on the situation and status of religious minorities in both Europe and the Arab World with regard to sustainable political, socioeconomic and cultural societal developments.
