The aim of the workshop is, in addition to historical-empirical, theoretical and methodological reflection, to intensify networking between academics working in the field of island studies.

Participants will present their research in various sessions, receiving direct feedback via peer comments. The topics will be discussed in interactive roundtables. In addition, there will be the keynote "Islands as political laboratories: Crete and the European imagination of the Mediterranean" by Regina Römhild (HU Berlin) and a visit to the exhibition "South Seas: Encounters with Paradise Lost" in the Weltmuseum Wien.

The keynote is open for the public, no registration required: November 21, 2019 at 5 p.m., Seminarraum 1 (2nd floor), Institut für Europäische Ethnologie.
