While Australia and Asia have close territorial borders and extensive trade relations they generally address issues about citizenship, citizenship education and what is frequently termed democratic citizenship education quite differently. As Asia is such a vast region with quite disparate countries, the focus of this presentation will be on citizenship education in schools in Thailand, China, Japan and Singapore. These will then be compared with citizenship education in Australian schools.
