LAST DAYS IN SHIBATI

Hendrick Dusollier // Documentary // France // 2016 // 60 min // OV with engl. subtitles

The French director Hendrick Dusollier documents life in a place that will soon be gone. Shibati is the last remaining old quarter of China's largest city, Chongqing, and it is about to disappear. Broken buildings, rubble and rubbish are the result of planned demolitions. Without mastering the language, Dusollier follows seven-year-old Zhou Hong through the streets of Chongqing and enters the wonderful realm of old Lady Xue Lian. Both have to leave their world to move to a new home they do not understand.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Gabu HEINDL (architect) and Cornelia VOSPERNIK (journalist, former China correspondent, ORF), moderated by Djamila GRANDITS (curator).

The event is held in English! The admission is free, tickets can be booked at: www.topkino.at
