OR2015, the annual international conference of the German Operations Research Society (GOR) will be organised together with the Austrian Operations Research Society (ÖGOR) and the Swiss Operations Research Society (ASRO/SVOR) at the University of Vienna. This year’s theme is OPTIMAL DECISIONS & BIG DATA. The Program Committee is headed by Gernot Tragler (TU Vienna), the organizing committee by Georg Pflug (University of Vienna). It will take place in the main building of the University of Vienna from September 1-4, 2015. Except for the social program and side events every session, talk or meeting will take place there.
Congresses of the German society GOR have a long tradition and have been organised in Austria as well as in Switzerland in cooperation with their partner societies respectively.
The conference's topics will cover the whole scope of Operations Research, including Energy, Environment and Climate Models, Financial Models, Risk Management, Game Theory, Experimental Economy, Health Care System and Bioinformatics, Logistics and Transportation, Supply-Chain-Management, Project Management, Multi-Criteria-Optimization and more.
Among the Invited speakers are Matteo Fischetti (University of Padova, Italy), Steven Scott (Google), Margaret Brandeau (Stanford University, USA), William Cook (University of Waterloo, Canada), Lars Grüne (University of Bayreuth, Germany), Dennis Huisman (Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands), Janny Leung (University of Hong Kong, China), Stefan Minner (TU Munich, Germany), Torsten Möller (University of Vienna, Austria), Andras Prekopa (Rutgers State University, USA), Rubén Ruiz García (Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain), Daniele Vigo (University di Bologna, Italy) and David Wozabal (TU Munich, Germany).
Due to its international orientation, around 800 participants from mathematics, statistics, business, economics and computer science from all over the world are expected.
The Social Program includes the Welcome Reception on the night before the opening of the conference, the Reception at the Mayor’s Office in the Vienna City Hall and the Conference Dinner at Heuriger Bach-Hengl (traditional Austrian restaurant). Participants may also join the festivities and special exhibitions of the 650th Anniversary Programme of the University of Vienna. The city of Vienna offers a broad variety for sightseeing, cultural events and trips around town as well.
