We are a group of students in Animal Cognition and Communication at the University of Vienna. On the 2nd and 3rd July 2015, we will be hosting the first CogCom Student Workshop in Vienna, with the goal of bringing together distinguished scientists from different research areas for insightful discussions and potential future collaborations.

The workshop will be limited to a total of 70 participants, and consists of four themed talk sessions and round table discussions. The four topics that we are aiming to cover are: Social Behaviour, Communication, Individual Differences, and Endocrinology. For each topic, we are inviting an internationally renowned expert and up to five members of their lab to give one joint plenary talk. In the same session, a lab leader and up to five students from Vienna will subsequently present their current research on the topic.

This workshop will be funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) through the “PhD Programme in Cognition and Communication” (http://cogcom.univie.ac.at). Faculty members associated with this Programme will also attend the workshop, including: Thomas Bugnyar, Tecumseh Fitch, Leonida Fusani, Walter Hödl, Ludwig Huber and Kurt Kotrschal.
