Current Anthropology and world anthropology: One future of anthropological publishing

HS-C, Institut für Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie (NIG)
Universitätsstraße 7, 4. Stock, 1010 Wien

Vortrag

As envisioned by Sol Tax, Current Anthropology was meant to be an international journal with widespread participation of anthropologists across the globe. But how well has it achieved this goal? Is it even possible or desirable in today's fractured intellectual landscape to do so? In this presentation, I will describe what the publishing landscape appears to be from the perspective of the journal, and identify trends that will have a profound effect on our field. Along the way, I will describe how the journal "works" and offer practical advice on submissions and their chances for publication in this ever-changing landscape.
