„Mesostructured Materials for Solar Energy

Conversion”

__________________________________________________________________________

Mesoporous oxides are a fascinating class of porous materials. Since the discovery of ordered mesoporous SiO2 via soft-templating already two decades ago, a large variety of mesoporous oxides either by soft- or hard-templating has been reported for a vast number of different applications including catalysis and sensors. The presentation will present strategies including mesostructuring of complex semiconductor mixed oxide materials on the nanoscale to improve photocatalytic activity for H2 generation. Mesoporous and fibroid photocatalysts exhibit shortened charge carrier diffusion lengths and enhanced surface area for improved photocatalytic per-formance, while the design of composite photocatalysts and photoelectrodes improves charge carrier separa-tion for enhanced activity.
