Beschreibung

The conference takes place biennially and serves as a forum for scholarly discussion and cross-disciplinary collegial exchange in migration research. This year’s conference theme is “The Relevance of Migration Research”, a long-debated issue in the field. Some scholars ask why research findings receive so little attention in politics and the public sphere. Others reject such approaches altogether, arguing that research should free itself entirely from questions of immediate political relevance to create space for alternative perspectives on migration. Between these two poles lies a wide range of individual positions. The 9th Biennial Conference on Migration Research seeks to bring these perspectives into conversation in two keynote panels and two panel debates also including journalists and policymakers. In addition, the conference presents insights from a wide range of research in the field of migration studies in 4 workshops and 30 panels including 109 papers.
