VISESS Big Picture Talk
UZAII, Eberhard Clar Saal (2B204)
Josef-Holaubek-Platz 2, 1090 Vienna
Diskussion, Round Table
Abstract:
As the frequency and impact of environmental and climate change intensifies, the various forms of human migration occurring in these contexts, across all regions of the world, continue to be a key topic in national and international discussions, as well as in policymaking. The way in which data and information are produced, beyond empirical research and revolutionised by the use of AI, raises fundamental questions about how research is developed and the broader societal consequences of policies informed by AI. Recent advancements in AI have led to innovations in various fields of human life and research, as well as accelerating data production and processing. Consequently, this event will discuss the use of AI in research and policymaking, drawing on the insights of experts and researchers in climate change and migration. The event provides a space for critical reflection on the following question: is AI all we need?
