(Guest lecture Dr. Annelie Knapp, University of Siegen)

Seminarraum 6 (2. Stock), Institut f. Anglistik und Amerikanistik

Vortrag

English-medium instruction in higher education for non-native speakers of English has become the topic of a growing body of research in recent years. Whereas most studies so far focused on problems resulting from students’ and lecturers’ insufficient competence in English, the effects of multilingualism in higher education on the construction of academic knowledge have hardly been taken into account. Based on empirical data, this lecture will deal with how students make use of their multilingual repertoires in the construction of knowledge and how this may affect the depth and availability of the knowledge acquired.
