Vortrag

Diplomats deal with almost everything which exists in this world, from North Pole to South Pole, from deep-seabed to outer space, people, plants, animals, … you name it. This lecture is to explain the attractiveness of the job called “diplomats” based on the actual experiences of Amb. Iwatani in his 40-year career in this field, citing three examples: a concrete project implementation in China, protection of overseas Japanese nationals, and creation of an international organization through negotiations among the countries concerned. The experiences are naturally limited to the realm of Japanese diplomacy but he believes that the essence of his experience is applicable to diplomats of any other country including Austria.
