_Buscando un norte_. Uses and appropriations of Latin American Political Ecology

Seminarraum SG2
Sensengasse 3, Bauteil 1, 1090 Wien

Vortrag

The global field of political ecology has been strongly configured as an epistemological archipelago. This may threaten the consolidation and development of the field itself, but it also offers the condition of possibility for mutual learning. In fact, more recently we have witnessed a remarkable growth of efforts to understand the perspective of the "other" and incorporate it into more complex dialogues and readings of ecopolitical reality. Particularly Anglo-Saxon Political Ecology and Francophone Écologie Politique, but also the Spanish/Catalan version, have paid increasing attention to the genealogy and contributions of Latin American Political Ecology. This has been done through various strategies of reading, exchanges and recognition of Latin American literature on the relationships between power, knowledge, geographies and nature. In this conference we critically explore the ways in which "northern" political ecologies have read, disseminated and assimilated the developments of Latin American Political Ecology.
