Vortrag

In May 2022, EAP 1294 (a British Library - Endangered Archives Programme pilot project) came to a successful end, after beginning work right in the middle of the pandemic. Its aim was to catalogue and digitise two distinct collections of palm-leaf manuscripts. The first of the two derives from a single source, an extremely rich Śrīvaiṣṇava collection whose enigmatic origins we sought to trace throughout the project. And the second, which is very different from the previous one, is made of manuscripts collected from multiple unknown sources, and is significant in many ways in its own right. In this talk, I’ll present the project, the challenges it faced and the achievements that it can boast, while also offering a glimpse into the contents of the two collections, which will be invaluable for the research community.
