This talk considers the potential impact that the nascent technology of quantum computing may have on society. It focuses on three areas: cryptography, optimization, and simulation of quantum systems. We will also discuss some ethical aspects of these developments, and ways to mitigate the risks.

 

The meet and greet will take place at 18:00.

The public talk will start at 18:30.

 

Admission is free.

Registration is not required.

 

The public talk is hosted by the International Conference for Young Quantum Information Scientists (YQIS) and Summer School of the Vienna Doctoral Program on Complex Quantum Systems (CoQuS) 2018.
