"From small rings to large: New synthetic methods towards natural and unnatural products"

Kleiner Hörsaal 3 der Fakultät für Chemie
Währinger Straße 38, 1090 Wien

Lecture

Ring systems hold a privileged place in organic chemistry, both as targets for chemical synthesis, and as tools for the development of new synthetic methods. In this lecture, I will describe recent work from our group on the use and preparation of organic ring systems – from the smallest polycycles, to some of the largest macrocyclic natural products. The chemistry we use ranges from radical reactions, through asymmetric transition metal catalyzed processes, to modern methods for the stereocontrolled synthesis of complex natural products.
