The conference is focused on today's young adults, who, as children, experienced the fall of Soviet-dominated societies and the related transformations on the Eastern side of the 'Iron Curtain'. How does the generation of the former children of the political revolutions in Eastern and Southeastern Europe as well as the German 'Wendekinder' (in the East, but also in the West) deal with collective memories, current socio-economic and political challenges such as migration, integration, or various nationalisms? What are their attitudes and expectations towards Europe and the European Union? Which insights, lessons learned and recommendations can therefrom be obtained for civic education in Europe?
