CINEMA AND HUMAN RIGHTS

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

Topkino
Rahlgasse 1, 1060 Vienna

Seminar, Workshop, Kurs

On the back of Naomi Klein’s international bestseller comes Avi Lewis’s film adaptation of ‘This Changes Everything’, an ambitious cinematic exploration of the vast challenge of climate change. Shot across five continents over four years, Lewis’s rich cinematography dramatically portrays the immediacy of the struggle for communities across the globe, whilst Klein’s narration provides a theoretical overview of the connection between the carbon in the air and the economic system which continues to put it there. The film differs from other documentaries in that it doesn’t attempt to scare the viewer into action; rather its overriding impression is one of empowerment and hope as it demonstrates the opportunity this grave existential crisis present us with to create a more just global economic system.
