The “Lviv Sobor” of 1946 and its Aftermath to the Present (Public Evening Lecture)

Festsaal, Erzbischöfliches Palais
Wollzeile 2, 1010 Wien

Antrittsvorlesung, Public Lecture

Two keynote addresses will be presented at the end of the first day of the conference "Arriving at a Common Narrative: The 'Lviv Sobor' of 1946 and its Aftermath to the Present", and are open to the public.

Bishop Borys GUDZIAK, Head of the Department of External Church Relations for the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and President of the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, and Vladislav PETRUSHKO, an official representative of the Russian Orthodox Church – Moscow Patriarchate, will present lectures on the conference topic, giving a history of the “Lviv Sobor” and setting it within the broader context of attempts at restoring union between the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, and suggesting ways toward unity—or at least better relations—in today’s ecclesial context.
