Hörsaal 3D (HS) im Neuen Institutsgebäude (NIG)
Universitätsstraße 7, 1010 Wien

Vortrag

About the talk

This talk will explore the relationship between psychosis and intersubjectivity. Takings some brief remarks by Karl Jaspers as my starting point, I will suggest that experience and belief are interpersonally regulated to such an extent that alterations in how one anticipates, experiences and relates to other people can lead to the development of delusions and hallucinations. To make my case, I will offer a phenomenological analysis of what Jaspers calls ‘delusional atmosphere’, compare it to forms of experience that arise due to interpersonal trauma, and consider the relationships between them.
