The value and its practice of Gender Equality take a long time to be gradually accepted by younger but not older generation in Taiwan. The talk will lead the audience to understand the long process of social, political and cultural changes since the lift of Martial Law in 1987 up to the present. I will discuss the democratic movement, feminist movement, cultural diversities and LGBT movement took place in Taiwan and how they changed the policies and people’s views on gender relations.

For the lecture, I will show a film (parts of it) about an early Feminist movement in Taiwan [?????] 1970 - 1996 and give a historical background about how gender mainstreaming developed.
