Diskussion, Round Table

It was almost 10 year ago that the collapse of Lehman Brothers starting triggered a multiple crisis on a global scale: A crisis of the global economy, of the social reproduction and of the political representation. The years after saw the outbreak of new wars in Syria, Iraq and other parts of the world, the sovereign debt crisis in the Eurozone. Yet, although we have grown accustomed to the discourse of crisis, it has reached another climax in 2016.

Against this background, inequality, migration and the exploitation of resources have grown into global issues and constitute three dimensions of contestation where social and political struggles have deepened in many countries and regions, and where concepts and strategies of development are being negotiated.

On the panel, we want to give an overview of and discuss about recent developments and dynamics in these three dimensions. The focus lies on disciplinary as well as transdisciplinary approaches and perspectives which can help to understand the complexity and dynamics of global issues.

The panel discussion takes place in the course of the Kick-off Workshop of the Erasmus+ CBHE (Capacity Building in Higher Education) Project Fostering Multi-lateral Knowledge Networks of Transdisciplinary Studies to Tackle Global Challenges (KNOTS), co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
