Michele Renee Salzman, University of California at Riverside

Evangelisch-Theologische Fakultät
Schenkenstraße 8-10/5 Stock, Hörsaal 1, 1010 Wien

Vortrag

The integration of Rome's senatorial aristocrats into the clergy is considered as an important part ofthe process by which a more powerful papacy would ultimately control the city's political, cultural and religious life.

Salzman's research on Felix's social status calls these assumptions into doubt and shed new light on the status ofthe papacy in late fifth century and the Acacian schism.

Dr. Micheie Renee Salzman is Professor of History at University of California at Riverside and currently working on "The 'Falls' of Romein Late Antiquity" and examining the city of Rome and its response to crisis from the third to seventh centuries.
